Havaiki is home to the original inhabitants of Polynesia - the Maohi. Legend has it that all the islands of the South Pacific were settled by voyaging canoes originating from Havaiki. The black pearl shell was made into tools that the Maohi used to fish, and fashion into tools. We celebrate the natural beauty of the islands and feature Tahiti's national flower - the Tahitian Gardenia.
