Tahitian dance is an art. The energetic otea performed by men and women can be a visual delight. In this dance, if you watch only the hands (like in Hula), you'll end up missing the whole story. An aparima can be a story told by some of the most graceful movements.
This calendar, produced by Manutahi Tahiti, an established group in Hawaii led by ra'atira Pola Teriipaia, is a scholarship fundraiser. Profits go towards the cause and help to fund the nonprofit organization. The Tahitian dance calendar showcases many of the girls (vahine) portraying the beauty, energy and unique nature of Tahitian dance. The costumes they wear are nothing short of spectacular.
