Discover the secrets of Hawaii's favorite oils. Anciently, Hawaiian's used the oil from the kukui nuts to make a natural candle, hence the nickname - "candlenut." They would take several nuts, string them on a coconut leaf midrib and light one end. It provided a natural source of light and is also a symbol of enlightenment.

Rich in linoleic and linolenic fatty acids, kukui oil is one of nature's supreme skin remedies.

Early Hawaiians discovered that the lightly roasted kukui oil soothed sunburns and provided exceptional dry skin protection and could easily be absorbed into your skin. Kukui is a favorite ingredient in natural skin care products from Hawaii. It is used in many soaps, body lotions, shampoos, body scrubs and lip balm products.

In the early 1900's, Hawaiian plantations started planting commercial crop macadamia trees. It established the nut as an international commodity. The nuts are a gourmet and valuable food crop. And the oil has proven itself both as a versatile and healthy cooking oil and also a prized ingredient in cosmetics and skin care.
